We at Kennedy Academy, in cooperation with families, provide a child-centered education where students are encouraged to reach their maximum potential and become productive citizens in a changing society.
A "child-centered education" is the focus of our academic program here at Kennedy Academy. Students are allowed to perform at their individual learning level and are placed in the program accordingly, regardless of their age. This allows students to move as quickly as possible in one or more areas while remediating basic skills in other areas. Kennedy Academy is a custom-made education for each child. We are accredited by the Kansas State Board of Education.
The certified teaching staff is able to attend to the individual needs of students. Small class size is a priority. At Kennedy Academy the teacher/student ratio will not exceed 1 to 16 in the elementary or 1 to 12 in the preschool.
The year-round teaching schedule is also a benefit. The academic year runs from August through June. This intensive program maximizes the mastery of skills and minimizes loss of retention.
Kennedy Academy accepts students from the ages of three years through sixth grade. We do not discriminate against anyone regarding race, religion, national origin or sex. However, we do have a Christian-based philosophy that includes saying a prayer of thanks before each meal and celebrating all Christian holidays by teaching the true meaning of the holiday. Although we do not required anyone to hold the same beliefs that we hold, we do not teach any doctrine other than Christianity.
Kennedy Academy is fully funded and supported by the parents of our students. We believe that parent participation is of the utmost importance. Our parents serve as coaches, board members, volunteers and partners with this school. Without the support and participation of the parents, we would not be able to attain the goals we set for our students.
We believe that a child's education is the most important aspect of childhood. Children will learn the behaviors and beliefs of those around them, especially of those who teach them. For that reason, we try very hard to set up and keep a standard of conduct for our teaches and staff that will encourage wholesome attitudes in our students.
