LANGUAGE ARTS- With the year almost over and coming to an end, I think its time to get a little silly. That means a lot of extra free time to do other activities. We are all done with spelling for this year, and to fill our time we are going to be trying to write sentences. We are going to use capitals at the beginning, spacing in between and proper punctuation at the end.

Math– In math we have worked on many things, addition, clocks, money, more, less, tall, short and ect. I think its best that we go back and review some of these concepts so that the children can get a better understanding of them.

Science–This month we are going to learn and talk about oceans. We are also going to be doing some extra hands on activities that we don’t have time to do during the school year.

Social Studies– With this month I think we will talk about our fathers and how AWESOME they are.

Language Arts:  We are working with the letters Ll, Mm, Nn, and Oo. For each letter, we are going to learn to find print in the environment that starts with our letter of the week and

Math: We are going to learn to count by 10s, work with AAB patterns, and review our numbers to 40 through a variety of fun and educational activities.

Science/Social Studies: We are going to compare healthy and unhealthy foods. One experiment we are going to do is take a hamburger from McDonald’s and a fresh apple and discuss why the apple turns yucky quickly and the hamburger doesn’t appear to be bad. We will also discuss where food comes from: farming, shipping, grocery, etc.

During the Ocean theme, we will discuss and compare different ocean creatures, and discuss how recycling helps our Ocean friends.

MESSY DAYS: Please take a look at your calenders or the one hanging on the outside of my classroom door!! Like most months there is a lot!

LA: We are going to be reviewing the alphabet all month. For weather we are going to be doing the letter W. we will be talking about the wind and playing in whip cream and making wind socks. For Sun we will be talking about the letter S we will be gluing sun glasses to the letter S. for Cloudy we will be gluing Cotton on the letter C, For R we will be gluing Rice for Rain and S for Snow we will be gluing Salt onto our S’s Then for ocean week, We are going to build letters with our lego’s and using play dough to see if we can spell out our names

Math: We will be doing a lot of counting and sorting this month. For weather we are going to be counting the different types of weathers such as suns.clouds, or raindrops Ocean week we will be counting and sorting sea shells,flip flops and sea creatures.

Science: This will be a lot of fun for the summer. Weather week we are going to be making tornadoes, and a soap cloud, then we will be putting different things in front of the fan to see witch ones will “blow” away and won’t blow away. then for rain we will be coloring a picture with markers and then spraying it with water to see what happens to the picture when it is wet. Testing week is going to be fun and messy. we will play outside with magnify glasses be playing in colored spaghetti and digging for bugs Ocean week we will be diving into the ocean with an under the water exploration game playing with sea shells and magnifying glasses and then sorting ocean animals by size

We will be spending time outdoors if you would like your child to have sunscreen please sign a permission slip and bring in your favorite and I will be glad to do it. Also you may bring in a water bottle too just make sure your child’s name is on it!! we will leave them here and then take them home Fridays with the book bags to be washed!!

Happy we are now into the SUMMER Months!! School has been a blast this year! thanks for all the great memories

Language Arts:  We are done having spelling tests.  This month we will be lightening the load and doing more fun writing activities.  We will be doing activities that help the kids learn about the writing process.  The kids will be picking their own topics and doing more free writing.  We will also be doing a fun reading day on June 7, where the kids get to bring a favorite book from home to read to the class. 

Math:  This month we are going to be doing a lot of hands on activities.  We are going to be doing activities that teach about subtraction and fractions and adding money.

Science:  We will be learning about the ocean this month.  We will be talking about the animals that live in the sea.  We will also be talking about the differences between oceans, lakes, and rivers. 

Social Studies:  This month we will be talking about our dads and how they are different and special to us. 

*We are going to be doing a lot of practice for graduation during this month, so attendance is important.

I allow the children to bring in an item that they like to share. It does not need to be theme based.

LANGUAGE ARTS This month we are working on recognizing and writing upper and lower case letters. We are learning that books have a beginning, middle, and end. We will continue to discuss rhyming words, as well as learn about opposites.

MATH  The children are doing a great job counting to 100, but we will continue to work on this. We are also going to work on counting by 5s and 10s. We are learning to write our numbers independently to 20 and learning to identify greater than, less than, and equal to, as well as extending a variety of patterns.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES For Science, the children are learning about seasons, weather, solids vs. liquids, directions, and seasonal changes.

For social studies, they are going to learn about good manners, cinco de mayo, and memorial day.

Here comes Summer! In p3 we are preparing for the upcoming weather changes and discussing our seasons and what comes with them! (If the weather would cooperate. ) 

This month we are going to be focusing on Health and being healthy. We are going to talk about healthy foods, how to keep our bodies strong and active and how to make our bodies happy! The kids are going to get to bring in their favorite foods and make some new foods! 

Student Of The Month : Kael Harmen! - Kael is new to our group and he has jumped in and been such a joy to work with. He has made new friends and already feels like one of the group!

This month for Language arts I am going to introducing the kids to American Sign Language. We are going to practice signing the alphabet as we say it! The kids are getting excited for this!

For math we are going to focus on counting by tens! So far the kids understand the concept of it but we are going to jump in and start doing this everyday with our circle time routine.

LANGUAGE ARTS- Our class is continuing to work on our sight words. The children are doing amazing on their spelling words. Their writing and reading skills have come a long way. In class we use a website that goes along with our books and spelling works here is a link http://www.starfall.com/ .

Math–  This month in math we will be learning addition.  We will continue working with money and time.  The kids have been doing well with telling time to the hour. I plan on having our time unit done this month.

Science– This month we are going to be learning about weather and seasons.  We will be learning about natural disasters, clouds, weather conditions, observing weather, weather patterns and sayings. To go along with the season we will be discussing weather safety.

Social Studies– We are going to be spending a lot of time talking about mothers from all over the world and what they do for us.

Language Arts:  This month we will be learning the “ow” sound, the long vowel o, and y that says I.  The kids are going to be wrapping up their sight word list this month and are working hard towards earning a sight word party for learning so many words.  I am very proud of how well they are doing in their reading groups. 

Math:  This month in math we will be learning subtraction.  The kids are doing very well with their addition and we will be wrapping up our fast math practice.  We will continue working with money and time.  We will also start working on fractions this month as well. 

Science:  This month we are going to be learning about weather and seasons.  We will be learning about natural disasters as well.  We will be focusing on tornadoes because that is the type of disaster we have in this area.  The kids will be learning about how to be safe in dangerous weather.

Social Studies:  We are going to be spending time this month talking about our moms and why they are important to us and what makes them special.  We will also be talking about grandmothers and aunts as well.

LA: The letters that we will focus on are the Letters P,C,S, for the Letter P we will be gluing shapes to make different pets We are also going to be making letter P stamps on the letter P. Letter C week we will be talking about Cats. Making a Cat out of the letter C and then making cat thumb prints. We are also going to be making cat masks and cat puppets Letter S week is for our five senses. we will be gluing words to the letter S that we can hear, touch, taste and smell and see. For letter Review week we are going to be putting stickers on the letter A’s B’s and letter C’s

Math: we are going to be counting out 15 objects, Collars for pet week. For 5 senses week we will talk about the 5 senses and count all the things that we hear, touch, taste, smell and see

SCIENCE: This month is all about Pets. We are going to change the classroom into a pet store. We will take a closer look into dog food. we are going to also talk about where animals live and what babies go to what mother. We are also going to have some fun playing in some bird seed and last but not lease we will be playing in a tub of water with some fish. 5 Senses week is also going to be a lot of hands on stuff. We will be exploring things that we touch by playing a game we will be tasting different types for snacks like whip cream and sour cream they look the same but will they taste the same!?!?! We will also have a bag of stuff to touch and feel. We will be exploring what we see too by using different things like a magnify glasses and mirrors.

May time the weather is nicer so we will be spending more time outside and explore our senses!!
